Surgery Centers in Mexico (or out-patient clinics) are a smaller more private elective surgery type of institutions or like a public health facility that is only devoted to the care of outpatients, often in a community, in contrast to larger hospitals, which also treat in-patients. Some grow to be institutions as large as major hospitals, while retaining the name clinic or out-patient surgery center. These are often associated with a local or major hospital group or medical university. Some clinics function as a place for people with minor to moderate injuries or common illnesses to come and be seen by triage nurse or other health workers. In these clinics, the injury or illness may not be serious enough to warrant an expensive unnecessary visit to an emergency room, but the person can be moved to one if the clinic doctor finds it to be necessary.
Receiving treatment at one of these types of clinics is often less expensive than it would be at a casualty department. Also, unlike an ER these clinics are often not open on a 24 / 7 – 365 basis. They sometimes have access to diagnostic equipment such as X-ray machines, especially if the clinic is part of a larger facility. Doctors at such clinics can often refer patients to specialists if the need arises. These are world class facilities at times and lots of Surgeons like to use them because of the privacy when compared to a city or government owned hospital. The attention is also more personalized and since they are not trauma centers your chances of contacting disease from an infected patient are significantly lower than if you were at a trauma hospital. The fee is relatively low for this elite service that we offer, but if you call from the local cell phone that is provided for you by Quality Care Mexico for the time of your stay, you may call the facilitator 24/7 if you need a simple over the phone translation and there is never a charge for this. The reason for the small fee on the other service is that, not all of our facilitators are from Mexico but rather the States or Canada so they rely on private transportation to make sure they get to you as fast as they can.
